February begins with snow and ice
As The Adrian Journal goes to press on Tuesday, February 4, large, wet flakes of snow are falling from the sky. The month of February began with sleet and freezing rain, covering the roadways, driveways and parking lots with solid sheets of ice. Travel was limited for many citizens in the Adrian area. Sporting events and special activities were canceled, and churches did not have services. On Monday, the ice kept Adrian R-III and area school districts from holding classes. By Tuesday morning, a blanket of snow is covering the ice and classes are once again canceled. According to the Bates County Sheriff’s Office, 6 - 10 inches of snow is expected, with the possibility of one inch per hour at times. Citizens are asked to take caution when driving.
