Storm season strikes early in the area

The last day of February started off mild and calm but the night ended with hail, wind, rain and tornadoes that brought March in like a lion. Severe weather was being forecast for the evening hours and by five or so, weather watchers were tracking several storm systems, one of which had already produced a tornado just south of Garnett, in Anderson County, Kansas. The cell moved eastward, eventually nearing the Linn/Bates County line.
