Betty Marie (Fortsch) Enos, 87, Adrian, Missouri, died Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at the Adrian United Methodist Church in Adrian, under the direction of Atkinson Funeral Home, Adrian, Missouri. Burial was in Crescent Hill Cemetery, Adrian. Visitation was held Tuesday, January 6, 2015, also at the Adrian United Methodist Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Jim and Betty Enos FFA Scholarship Fund.

Gene Edwin Irvin, 78, Adrian, Missouri died Saturday, December 20, 2014 at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford, Connecticut. Funeral services were held Sunday, December 28, 2014 at the Adrian Optimist Building in Adrian with burial in Crescent Hill Cemetery, Adrian. Memorial contributions may be made to the Optimist Foundation of Adrian, Inc. or Happy Hill Church of God.
The Bates County Sheriff's Office and other agencies arrested and charged several people with illegal drug use or possession in December. According the Sheriff's Office they are:
Dylan J. Warren, Butler, MO (pictured right) - arrested and charged with possession of more than 35 grams of marijuana.
Matthew Swarnes, Foster, MO (pictured center) - arrested and charged with Felony Resisting Arrest and 2 counts Felony Endangering the Welfare of a Child in the First Degree.
Tim Hummel, Quartermaster of Adrian VFW Post 1935 recently presented a certificate of appreciation to Perfirio “Pete” Ramirez. 91 year old Ramirez was in the Army infantry during World War II. Pete is from Grain Valley, MO and holds the respect, gratitude and admiration of every member of VFW Post 1935.
