2014 Track Season begins for Adrian Blackhawks

The Adrian Blackhawks boys and girls track teams opened the 2014 track season at the University of Central Missouri, Warrensburg for an indoor meet on Tuesday, March 25.

Students of the Month receive recognition from Adrian Optimists


The Adrian Optimist Club is pleased to honor Students of the Month from the Miami, Ballard and Adrian schools. Criteria for this honor center on outstanding academic and civic achievement and school spirit. Staff at each of the schools make the selection, and their decision is based on expansion of these criteria. Each student is honored with a certificate of recognition from the Adrian Optimist Club and $20.00 in Adrian Chamber of Commerce “Chamber Bucks.” This month's Students of the Month are Joshua Hawkins, Adrian; Alex Thomas, Miami; Holly Tate, Ballard.

Marijuana grow operation in Adrian dismantled



On 3/18/14, members of the CNET Drug Taskforce and the Bates County Sheriff’s Office converged on a residence in rural Adrian, Missouri. The narcotics officers were following up on a tip in reference to a marijuana grow operation at the residence.

Narcotics officers made contact with one of the owners at the residence. At the residence the officers located two locations within the house used for the grown operation. .

Adrian Chamber of Commerce features Longo Law Firm, LLC as the March Business of the Month


The Adrian Chamber of Commerce has chosen Longo Law Firm, LLC as the featured business for March. The office, located in Suite A, 145 East Main Street in Adrian, is owned by attorney Jovanna Longo. She has been a lawyer since 2007 and has been located in Adrian since September of last year. She also has a meeting office in Kansas City, Missouri to accommodate clients in that area as well.

Author Kelly Milner Halls captivates Adrian R-3 students


Last Wednesday, March 19, author Kelly Milner Halls visited the Adrian R-III Library. Mrs. Halls energetic, interesting presentation kept a captive audience of young kids, older kids and teachers listening carefully to her passion for books. Her books are non-fiction, science based children’s books about ghosts, Big Foot, aliens and more. “The Tales of the Cryptids,” is currently one of the most popular books written by Mrs. Halls.
