Sheriff finds meth-making chemicals in Adrian home
On March 20, 2008 the Bates County Sheriff’s Office was called to 217 South Virginia, Lot #4, to assist the Adrian Police Department. Initial reports were that an Adrian officer was exposed to chemicals from a meth lab and that the Adrian Police Department was evacuating the area.
While enroute to the scene, Bates County Sheriff Doug Mullenix gathered information and determined that there had not been any chemicals released in the air, thus, there was no immediate threat of chemical exposure to citizens in the area. Sheriff Mullenix stopped the evacuation.
Narcotic officers arrived on the scene and removed a bag containing chemicals used in the manufacturing of methamphetamines from the residence. Investigators are following up on leads and are investigating suspicions of how the bag got inside the residence. Anyone with information is encouraged to call the Sheriff’s Drug Tip Hotline at 660-679-4020 or the Sheriff’s Office at 660-679 3232.
