Frontier Village grounds bustled with activity during the Steam and Gas Engine Show

“I think this year’s show just might be one of the biggest and best ever,” said WMAT&MA member, Don Arndt. The Steam and Gas Engine show over the weekend drew scores of people from all across the county to exhibit tractors and other vintage machinery or to just look at the bits of history. Saturday’s bountiful attendance kept the WMAT&MA members busy with demonstrations and giving out information and directions and seeing to visitor and exhibitor needs as the Frontier Village grounds bustled with activity.

An Adrian teen escaped serious injuries in a car versus train accident in Bates County on Thursday, June 21, 2012. The accident occurred at 2:23 p.m. on County Road 8002 about a half mile east of County Road 1001, just north of Passaic.

The Adrian Chamber of Commerce’s featured business/organization for June is the Adrian Elks Lodge. The local lodge is part of the 141 year old Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, a national organization with nearly one million members in more than 2000 lodges across the county.

Adrian Community Theatre production is a hit

The Adrian Community Theater provides an outlet for creative community involvement, and educates and entertains the community by providing a superior theater experience. Their production of “Switching Principals” by Pat Cook was a phenomenal display of talent and humor last weekend.

New Arrival - Brynley Adele Twillegar

Jeremy and Kari Twillegar, Adrian, MO, announce the birth of their daughter, Brynley Adele, on May 13, 2012, 9:18 p.m., at St. Joseph Medical Center. She weighed 6 lbs. 3 ozs. and was 18 inches long. Brynley has two sisters, Scarlett and Christian, to welcome her home.

Dance Craze dancers compete at Nationals Dance Competition

A team of 15 local dancers made their way to the Stage One Nationals Dance Competition in Branson, MO last week. The Dance Craze dancers embraced the challenge of competing at nationals and as a team they gave it their all. They were awarded high honors and special achievements for their performances. From solos to duos/trios to small group routines, the dancers made their families proud, and their dance teacher, too. Dance Craze Owner/Teacher/Choreographer Jenny Welcher was overwhelmed with pride. “Nationals this year was a huge success.

Lawrence David Cooley, Sr. 1922 - 2012

Lawrence David Cooley Sr., age 79 of Kansas City, Missouri died Monday, June 25, 2012 at Kansas City Hospice House in Kansas City. He was born July 14, 1922 to Lewis and Clara Scott Cooley in Kansas City.

Graveside memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 30, 2012 at Oak Hill Cemetery in Butler, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Kansas City Hospice House.
