The Community Chest accepts donations from individuals and the United Way and Alan can be reached at the Adrian Bank to accept donations. These funds are given to programs that have no other means of support. The funds stay in Adrian. The Adrian Meal program delivers many meals daily to Adrian folks via volunteers. Ora Evelyn Rabourn, age 97 of Butler, Missouri died Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at Medicalodge Nursing Center in Butler. She was born August 12, 1914 to James Kirk and Bergie Louava Fry Evans in Keota, Iowa.
Graveside services were Saturday, May 5, 2012 at Scott Cemetery in Amsterdam, Missouri with Holly Rabourn officiating. Contributions may be made to the Scott Cemetery or Medicalodge of Butler.
Last year, the Adrian Optimist Club determined that additional event space would help meet current and future needs of the Club, the youth and the community. They broke ground for the new addition in December, 2011. The anticipated date of completion for this 5,000 sq. ft. facility is the first part of June. While the finishing touches still need to be completed, the addition is fully functional for the Adrian Optimist Gun Show this weekend. Vendors will be on hand in both the new facility and the existing facility.
The American Red Cross Bloodmobile will be in Adrian Tuesday, May 8 from 1:00-6:00 p.m. at the Adrian Optimist Building. To be a donor you must be at least 17 years of age. There is no upper age limits.
Bates County Memorial Hospital (BCMH) honored Patti Bruto for her dedicated and loyal services as a member of the BCMH Board of Directors at its annual board meeting on April 25, 2012. Mrs. Bruto served on the hospital board from 2007-2012. She has served in the capacity of Secretary, Treasurer and Vice-Chairman. Her commitment to the hospital has been demonstrated by her support of the hospital and the community it serves. Mrs. Bruto’s contributions as a board member have been appreciated and will certainly be missed.
Cody Knuth and Joshua Huenefeld receive the prestigious Knights of St. Patrick Award at Kansas State University. At the KSU Engineering Banquet, held April 26th, 29 students were presented the award. The Knights of St. Patrick Award is given to those graduating seniors who have achieved high levels of scholarships, as well as been involved in activities in their department, the College of Engineering, Kansas State University, and the community.

The Adrian varsity track teams participated in the Knob Noster Invitational Tuesday, April 24. Coach Robards stated, “This was a tough meet for us. We were up against several larger schools which pushed us but it wasn’t enough to get many girls to place in their events. Skyler Wooldridge broke her school record for the second time this year with a vault of 10’9”. Our 4x400 team also set their personal best with a time of 4:35.61.” Coach Cochran commented, “Teamwise we were kind of outmanned today. There were lots of larger schools competing. That is good, though.
The KC Metro Area 2012 Spring Games were held Sat., April 28, at Lee’s Summit North High School. Roy L. Reddell of Adrian, Missouri was born on August 8, 1940 and went to be with the Lord on April 27, 2012 at the age of 71. Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at the Atkinson Chapel in Adrian, officiated by Billy Moore, Church of Christ, Butler, MO. Music by Steve Carroll. Burial was in Crescent Hill Cemetery in Adrian. Memorial contributions may be made to the Church of Christ in Butler.
Willard Louis Steiner, age 96 of Butler, Missouri, died Tuesday, April 24, 2012 in Butler. He was born July 20, 1915 to Louis Charles and Rosa Hegnauer Steiner in Butler.
Funeral services were Saturday, April 28, 2012 at Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel in Butler, Missouri with Pastor Justin Moxley and Pastor Lance Coffman officiating. Burial in Oak Hill Cemetery, Butler, Missouri. Contributions to Pleasant Gap Christian Church.
Last Friday, Adrian TSA organized the first ever exposition. TSA member Christa Hill, senior, explained that the expo was held to help promote student achievement and the accomplishments of school organizations.

Tuesday, April 17 the Adrian Blackhawks varsity track teams traveled to Archie for the Archie Invitational. The girls finished in 4th place and the boys took 3rd with 101.5 points.
Coach Robards stated, “I’m very pleased with how we performed today. We set 6 personal records and Skyler Woodridge broke her own school record in the pole vault. The girls continue to work hard in practice and they are starting to see results from that hard work.”
