The Elks building on the north side of the Clinton, Missouri square collapsed in the late afternoon on Monday, trapping several members. A portion of the Adrian Fire Department responded to assist in the disaster.

The Adrian City Council is looking into more efficient ways to collect both delinquent and current personal property taxes. One of the ways being considered is one that is used in other counties; that is, having the county collect those taxes for the city.

The Missouri Department of Transportation wants public input on the improvements planned for Route 18 from Lexington Avenue to east of Kentucky Avenue in Adrian. An open-house public input meeting is scheduled for Thursday, June 29, from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Adrian City Hall, 16 E. 5th Street.

"Astrorama 2006", sponsored by the Adrian Lions Club, was held last Saturday night at the Adrian City Park. Coordinated by Donita Ruch, along with Richard and Nita Apple, the Lions Club invited the ASKC astronomers to be present to assist. Several brought telescopes for those attending to view the moon, Jupiter, Saturn and other sites up in the skies.
