Three injured in two vehicle accident
Three people in one vehicle were injured in a two vehicle accident in Bates County Thursday, May 25, 2006. The accident occurred at 5 p.m. near the US 71 Highway and Missouri Highway 18 bridge, at Adrian.

R-3 Board approves forming of Adrian R-3 School Foundation
Mr. Hedrick reviewed the need to form an Adrian R-3 School Foundation. A motion was made by Cooper, and seconded by Lewis, to approve forming a school foundation called the Adrian R-III School Foundation. This foundation is a vehicle for distribution of donated monies.
Blackhawks end season at State
The Missouri State 1 & 2 Class track meets were held Friday and Saturday at Lincoln University in Jefferson City. Adrian qualified six athletes who competed in the season finale. Coach Matt Cochran said, "I thought the kids ran well. For the most part, we ran our best times of the year. Brian [Robards] took home three medals. That is an outstanding accomplishment. He has medaled three years in a row and has gone to state all four years. Russell [Hahs], Emily [Hunholz] and Brice [Peel] all ran well, too.

Co-Valedictorians
Lisa Wainwright and Emily Hunholz have been named as Co-Valedictorians of the 2006 graduationg class at Adrian R-III. Lisa is the daughter of David and Barbara Wainwright and Emily is the daughter of Marty and Alice Hunholz. Commencement exercises will be held Sunday afternoon, May 21, 2:30 p.m. at the Adrian R-III Gymnasium.
Four Blackhawks headed to State
On Saturday, May 12 the Adrian track teams competed in the District track meet held at Higginsville. The boys finished fourth in the state qualifying meet. Four Blackhawks will be competing in the state championships to be held Friday and Saturday, May 19 and 20 in Jefferson City. they are Russell Hahs, Brice Peel, Brian Robards and Emily Hunholz.
Lady Blackhawks close out season with 20-7 win
The Adrian Lady Blackhawks closed out their first season last Thursday. They played host to the Sherwood Lady Markmen and had their best game of the year by defeating the Lady Marksmen 20-7.
Blackhawks wrap up season
On Friday the Blackhawk baseball team played the Southwest Charter Knights. Adrian won 15-2 to advance to the semi-finals against the top team in the state, the Higginsville Huskers. The Blackhawks lost 18-0 and ended their first season with a 5-15 record.
50th Wedding Anniversary

Highway Patrol investigates fatality accident on 71 Highway
A man died in a second accident to occur in the same location in less than a week. The second accident, involving two vehicles, occurred Thursday, May 4 about 9:45 a.m. According to the Highway Patrol, the accident occurred when a northbound 1002 Nissan Pathfinder, driven by Thomas J. Eads, 20, Salisbury, Missouri, went off the left side of the roadway.
Adrian thinclads participate in WEMO Conference meet
The Adrian Blackhawk track teams competed in the WEMO Conference track meet Saturday, which was held at the Archie Sports Complex. In the boy's division, it was the Adrian Blackhawks who came out on top with 127 points.
Blackhawks lose close one to Hume
The Adrian Blackhawk baseball team played host to the Hume Hornets last Thursday, May 4th and lost a close one 2 to 1.

Tenholder-Rugg receive state's highest FFA honor
Jason Rugg and Wade Tenholder, of the Adrian FFA Chapter, both received the State FFA Degree, the highest degree members can receive at state level. Awarding the degree is based upon a member's Supervised Agricultural Experience Program in agribusiness or production agriculture, and leadership ability as demonstrated through involvement in FFA, school and community activities.

Lady Blackhawks lose to Leeton
The Adrian Lady Blackhawks' softball team traveled to Leeton last Thursday, April 27 and lost 4-1. The Lady Blackhawks scored their run in the 3rd inning on a base hit by Tina Gillis. Jennifer Underwood gave up 2 earned runs and had 12 strike outs.
Blackhawks score 2-1 victory over Leeton
The Adrian Blackhawks traveled to Leeton last Thursday, April 27 and came away with a 2-1 victory over the Bulldogs. Cody Knuth was the winning pitcher. He gave up 1 earned run and had 10 strike outs. Knuth's record is 2-2.
Blackhawks take second in Prairie View Invitational
The Adrian Blackhawks traveled to Prairie View High School for the Prairie View Invitational last Thursday. Pleasant Hill took first out of the 11 teams with 97 points and the Blackhawks finished second with 91.
