Mayor settles into office
After just three weeks, newly elected Adrian Mayor Cindy Kendrick said the job was just as she expected. "It involves a lot of work and a lot of time, but basically itís what I thought it would be," she said.
R-III Board votes to move athletic facility
At this monht's board of education meeting discussion was held on moving the athletic facility to the school property east of town. A motion was made by Lewis and seconded by Tolle to proceed in moving the athletic facility to the property. Motion was approved 7-0. Although the Board is still working out the details of the plan, the move could begin as soon as late summer.
Blackhawks first at Archie to continue winning streak
The Adrian Blackhawks continued their winning streak last Tuesday when they participated in the Archie Invitational. The boys won the meet by edging the Cass Midway Vikings 121 to 114. There were 12 schools in the meet.
Lady Blackhawk tricksters compete at Archie and Louisburg
The Adrian Lady Blackhawks competed in the Archie Invitational Track Meet last Tuesday, April 18 and finished 6th among the 12 schools with 44 points.

Administrator hired for Manor
A special meeting of the Board of Aldermen was held Monday, April 17. Ron Fetters was briefly interviewed for the position of Administrator at the Adrian Manor. After an executive session, Hank Stark moved to offer employment to Fetters as of May 1, 2006 contingent upon a mutually agreed upon contract for one year. Motion carried 3-0.
Adrian Bank to sponsor Speedway celebration
The Adrian Bank is sponsoring an Adrian Speedway Celebration this Saturday and activities extend to all three Adrian Bank locations in Adrian, Archie and Butler.
Blackhawk thinclads continue to dominate
The Blackhawk boys track team participated in the Jayhawk-Linn meet Tuesday, April 11. They fell behind in the first half of the meet, but came back and won the meet with 111 1/2 points.
Record setter
Senior Brian Robards broke the Adrian school record in the 200m dash at the Jayhawk-Linn invitational track meet held last Tuesday. His time was 22.28. The previous record, 22.35, was held by Jeremiah Reynolds.

Kendrick begins duties as Adrian's mayor
The Adrian City Council has a new addition. Cindy Kendrick, center, was sworn in as the next mayor of the city. Incumbents Hank Stark, left and Mark Lovelace, right, were also given the oath by City Clerk Barbara Bloomfield at Monday night's regular meeting.
Adrian R-3 hoping to move forward
"Move forward" seemed to be the consensus at an information sharing meeting that took place on Wednesday, April 5 between members of the Adrian R-III School Board and several members of the community. After much discussion and research, the board determined that an addition on the east end of the existing facility was the best.
Blackhawk thinclads win at Cass-Midway and Windsor
The Adrian Blackhawks were victorious at the Cass-Midway Invitational Track Meet last Tuesday, April 4. Brian Robards won four events: 100m, 200m, 400m and long jump. He set new meet records in the 400m with a time of 53.21 and in the long jump, 20'3 1/2". Wade Tenholder won the gold medal in the 800m.
Lady Blackhawks defeat Jayhawks 5-2
The Adrian Lady Blackhawks' varsity softball team defeated the visiting Jayhawk Linn Lady Jayhawks 5-2 last Tuesday night. The Lady Blackhawks scored 2 runs in the 4th inning and 3 in the 5th. Jayhawk Linn scored 1 run in the 4th and 1 in the top of the 7th.
Blackhawks drop 2, win 1 in Hume tournament
The Adrian Blackhawks lost to the hosting Hume hornets 10-0 last Friday at the Hume baseball tournament. On Saturday, the Blackhawks lost to Northeast Vernon County 6-4. In their next game on Saturday, Adrian defeated the Bronaugh Wildcats 17-3.

Police investigate report of assault with a motor vehicle
Thursday, March 30, Sgt. Charles Chapman was dispatched to the Talley Trailer Park on a reported assault with a motor vehicle. An intoxicated female subject allegedly used her vehicle to ram, not once, but twice, another vehicle.

Blackhawks pick up two ins in tournament action
The Adrian Blackhawks baseball team picked up its first win of the season while playing in the Archie/Adrian round robin tournament this past Friday and Saturday. The Blackhawks are 2-4 in the new season.
Track season opens in Clinton; Boys win Archie meet
The track season was has begun for the Adrian Blackhawks. Both varsity squads traveled to Clinton on March 28 to compete in a tri-meet with Clinton and Harrisonville.
